Walking to school has got a whole lot brighter for pupils at St Andrew’s School in Rochester.
There is no fear of children not being seen on their journeys in their new coloured tabards.
St Andrew’s is the first school in the district to get the new KM Walk to School tabards, which have been funded by Medway Council
Parent co-ordinator Sandra Mumford said: “The children loved the fact they could choose their own colours and the pink and red have proved the most popular.
“The older children wearing the blue crew tabards are much happier as they are a lot brighter than they used to be, some even went as far as to say they looked cool.
“There's certainly no groaning when I tell them to put them on now in fact they can't wait to wear them.
“They've proven so popular that I have had another eight children register on the bus since they've seen them.”
An impressive 194 children use the St Andrew’s walking bus along three routes.
Sandra added: “They cover three different directions to school leaving no excuse for anyone to have to take a car..”
Walking bus families in Medway can still order coloured tabards by registering on www.kmwalktoschool.co.uk and placing a free order.
As well as the KM Group, the Walking Bus, which is a Medway Council-led initiative is sponsored by Denne Construction, Bel UK, Ringway, Veolia Environmental Services, Eurostar, AXA PPP healthcare and the Co-operative.
